Spook Houses - The "Trying" LP

I knew nothing about Spook Houses other than a friend with impeccable taste recommended them. That was about ten listens ago.

Per their bandcamp:

Formed in Ridgewood, NJ by Colin Alexander and David Benton in the Spring of 2010, SPOOK HOUSES makes high energy indie rock songs with quiet moments, taking influence from Built to Spill, Michael Hurley and Weezer. With Alkis Meimaris on bass and Nick Corbo on drums, they are set to release their debut LP Trying this August on Evil Weevil Records. Trying is the fully-realized follow up to the band's self-released Home EP, which featured four lofi nostalgia-jams. SPOOK HOUSES have shared bills with Real Estate, Screaming Females, Beach Fossils and Twin Sister. This ain't no pilgrim band.
