Chance the Rapper - 10 Day Tape

I have been nodding my head on long bus rides to the salt mines to the tunes of Chance the Rapper's mixtape 10 Day.

The ability to create a tape centered around a single premise and never letting it go stale is something that many rappers musicians never master, but Chance makes it look easy with 10 Day, a record made about (and possibly during) a 10 day suspension for smoking weed in his school parking lot.

With a flow that is a nice mix of Kanye, dude from Pharcyde and Kid Cudi,  Chance creates tracks melodic enough for causal listens and technical enough for rap nerds to applaud. The beats on the tape are boom-bappy enough for the Golden Era fans and forward enough for the blograp fanboys, and the outcome is a mixtape created by a distinct point of view that plays well to the masses.
